Over the course of time, catering to the demands and changing market conditions the complexities of managing the business had increased. This complexity affected various departments, but the department that was affected the most wasaccounting.Accounting processeshad slowed down significantly and were prone to errors. The company needed to address the accounting complexities of the business and make the back office processes very efficient.
The data required for back office accounting processes distributed across various systems. Many of these systems did not provide a way to interoperate, causinga lot of manual work to be done to complete accounting tasks. The company needed a solution that could gather data from all internal and external sources, apply business rules, provide correctiveoverrides, finalize data into the accounting tools and lastly update the client and partner systems.
After reviewing the complexity of the business and various systems involved, Continuity1 provided a solution based on the services oriented architecture. Here all required systems were made interoperable by building a service interface on top of their business components. A new accounting tool was developed which consumed the services of the other systems and was flexible enough to accommodatevarious complexities of the business. The accounting system addressed various process related needs of the Accounts department such as providing an issue resolution process and the ability to overridedata. The tool then used the services of other dependent systems to share the finalized information with various other applications.
